Python is one of the most popular programming languages for Data Science. In this bootcamp, students will learn the fundamentals of programing using Python so that they feel comfortable manipulating data (numbers, text) in their own problems. Topics include data types, data structures, boolean relationships, looping, and functions. Students will explore these core topics independently or in groups, and complete coding challenges that aim to bring the topics together. In addition to programming fundamentals, Python will be contextualized in the greater Data Science/Analytics world, where students will work through a real data set by plotting the data, and using linear regression to analyze their results. Takeaways How run Python scripts in the Jupyter Notebook ecosystem Basic data types of Python Basic data structures of Python Boolean relationships in Python Using loops and functions in Python to do repeatable tasks Intro to Data Science with Python, and where it is more appropriate than other tools, like Excel Finally, students will leave with a clear pathway forward to continue python learning, either through self learning or direction towards other courses. Prereqs & Preparation This course is suited for someone who has never programmed before, or wants to brush up on the basics of programming before they enter one of General Assembly's Data Science courses. Perquisites for the course: Installed anaconda for python 3.6 ( If you are having trouble installing it on windows, make sure you have administrative rights enabled on your computer.
